Another pre-departure milestone passed today.  My family came to spend the weekend - lots of fun at the fair, chuck e cheese and out to a nice dinner for my parents anniversary.  And of course (as they always are) they were AMAZING helping to get the house ready for our showing and our departure.  Its never looked better.

But today they left and with lots of tears for everyone involved, they took Duke with them.  We usually see my family about one weekend a month, so four months to Christmas seems like a long time, but I know it will fly by for us.  We'll miss Duke for sure!  He'll be staying with my sister for the year with his cousin Dakota, in a house with a big backyard that he loves.  Duke is about 11 years old and while we could have taken him with us, we figured it would be better for his health if we didn't put him through a long flight and a quarantine in Japan.  Too much stress for sure.  My mom also took our goldfish Dorothy with her - who would have thought that Dorothy would live 2 1/2 years???  Crazy goldfish from Walmart.
To Kiki, Mom, Dad, Duke, Dakota and Dorothy - thanks for everything.  We love you and will miss you and are looking forward to seeing you in a few months (and on Skype in the meantime!!).

Other than saying goodbye, we got a few more things done too - ENT appointment for Abby, quick repairs on the van (a couple of recalls and an oil change), family haircuts, and dinner with Jason's grandpa and grandma.

Lots more to do tomorrow and I need to start packing some suitcases!

(ok so this got posted a few days late in the chaos of this week!  but I had it all written and wanted to post it anyway!!)

Kanpai!
