Saturday was a laid back day for us.  We started out by having some pancakes for breakfast (a weekend favorite in Mpls!), had a brief Skype call with Oba Kiki and then headed down to the apartment complex lobby area for a showing of Shrek.  We own Shrek, so there wasn't much reason for us to go down and watch it, but we were hoping to meet some of our neighbors and their families for some playmates.  No such luck.  We were the only ones down there.  Oh well, maybe next time.  We have seen families walk through with kids so we know they are here - we just have to figure out a good way to meet them!

After Shrek, we came back and had lunch.  Hot dogs for the girls and Johnsonville Brats for Jason and I.  I may have mentioned on Monday that we went to an international supermarket and these brats found their way home with us.  Boiled them in Sapporo and grilled them on the "fish grill" compartment of our oven.  Works out pretty well!

After naps for the girls and some Wii for Jay and I, we went to a little park nearby.  There wasn't much to it - just one thing to climb on but we brought some things with too.  A little soccer, bubbles and climbing and we were all done.

Off to the grocery store for some last minute items for dinner and we were back home.  This evening was dinner, baths and Ella's bicycle was delivered - a good day for everyone!

So to add some interest to this post I want to tell you about the bugs.  Its hot here and the bugs are big.  They make junebugs look like mosquitoes.  But there is one bug in the trees everywhere here and it makes a constant buzzing noise - its background noise to the whole city.  It gets louder at night but its there all day too.  Its hard to explain so I thought I'd take a video at the park area today and see if you could all hear it for yourself.  So here's a picture of the bug and a video of the noise it makes.  They don't bother us and you really don't even see them very often since they're up in the trees, but still...Yuck.
to the end of its wings its about 2in long or so.  seems to be about standard size for the ones I've seen

Kanpai!
